If your student has been scheduled to a class or classes (see list at bottom) that require they have access to a network device they will need to have access to a netbook or a laptop during the school day. You are being assessed a netbook lease fee of $75 for the school year. This lease will provide your student with a school owned netbook with Microsoft Office 2007 software, carrying case and power supply to use at school and home during the school year. Troy Christian Schools will provide virus protection for all leased netbooks. Student Internet access will be filtered and monitored while at school. Parents are responsible for providing filtering of Internet access away from the school network.  Troy Christian Schools will be happy to provide, at an additional cost of $20, an Internet filter that will work on networks outside our school. If you are interested in setting this up please contact our technology department. You may avoid the netbook lease charge by providing your own netbook or laptop for your student and sending Mrs. Shinall (jshinall(at)troychristianschools.org), our school treasurer, an email informing her of this by Tuesday, August 23rd. Once you have informed Mrs. Shinall of your intent to provide your own device the charge will be removed from your account.

If you are planning on leasing a school netbook, you and your student will need to read and sign the TCS Netbook AUP (please see links above). The netbooks will be distributed during the first week of school starting on Wednesday, August 24. A representative from the technology department will be visiting classes and distributing the netbooks to the students. The signed TCS Netbook AUP will need to be handed into the technology department staff before the netbook will be given to your student. Please make sure your student brings the signed document to school with them and keeps it with their agenda so that it is readily available to hand in. The TCS Netbook Handbook is for your reference only and does not need to be turned in.

If you have any questions with regards to the new netbook lease program please contact Mr. Matt Klint (mklint(at)troychristianschools.org), who will be in charge of the new 1:1 netbook program for Troy Christian Schools.
